Information Governance Officer (IG Officer) #
The Information Governance Officer role provides support to the Information Governance Advisory service and to the Information Governance Lead in meeting their responsibilities. The role provides support and guidance to research teams and Information Asset Owners to keep research data safe.
The Information Governance Officer
- Must be responsible for the maintenance of ISMS documentation.
- Must be responsible for coordinating and scheduling activities with regard to the ISMS.
- Must be responsible for the maintenance of information security assurances received from researchers for the ISMS.
- Must escalate any persistent information security non-compliance to the Information Governance Lead.
- Must be responsible for the maintenance of published guidance for users of the ISMS.
- Must be responsible for maintaining evidence of ISMS communications to researchers.
- Must be responsible for operating the information governance service for researchers to get advice and guidance.
- Must work closely with external bodies and researchers to facilitate information security assurances for the ISMS.
- Must monitor information security compliance within the ISMS.
- Must provide support to the Information Governance Lead at times of peak demand to prevent service degradation in the ISMS.
